Have you ever heard of The Pads?
It’s a sweet, yet quirky boondocking spot on the east entrance to Death Valley National Park.
The area was once used and created for a nearby mining company that has since been abandoned and is now used by RV and tent campers as a free place to camp near Death Valley.
It’s about 17 miles from Furnace Creek (the center of Death Valley NP) and has no cell service. You can drive right up onto the concrete pads or park on the gravel right beside them.
The night skies were unreal bc there isn’t any light pollution for miles and access to the park from here was super easy.
My kids favorite part was the space they had to ride their skateboards and the mountain they climbed up to read and hang out.
If you are headed to Death Valley, definitely add this spot to your list.
