They really do grow up fast.

They really do grow up fast. I know this is totally cliche and all. But you guys, when we left to hit the road 3 years ago we had 3 little kids. . We have come full circle back to our hometown after finishing the lower 48 states and we have a teenager and 2 not so little kids. . Yes, I know how time works and that every year we get older 😛but the transformation of my kids in the last 3 years has really hit me this month and is kind of blowing my mind. . And let me tell you, I freaking love these kids. I love their personalities, their quirks, their annoying parts . And I have loved watching them flourish in our time of full time travel. . These amazing little humans embrace change, they try new things, they understand the differences in our country because they have visited most of the states and know the vibe in the different areas. . They have been to tiny little remote towns and large cities. They have ridden metros, city buses , and hiked trails to the back woods of many national forests. . They understand the geographical differences in a deciduous forest, a dessert, and a coastal area because they have lived in each one of them for a time. . Our life is often so full of experiences and time together that I don’t always take time to reflect. But as I digest our experiences in the last 3 years, there is so much gratitude in my heart for what we have experienced! . We have lived so much life in this past 3 years! We know that we are entering into a new season. We don’t know what that means or what that looks like. But we are excited. . When your kids move into their teens you have to evaluate things and be sure that your life lines up with what they need. We are doing that but without any answers yet. But just as we have in every stage of life, we will just take it one step at a time. . And until we know exactly what’s next, I’ll be over here looking back on the amazing life we have lived in the past 3 years.

Y’all this is my heartbeat right here. Backpacking in the mountains with amazing views and my favorite people. . I’m pretty sure this looks far more like what most people thought we meant when we said we were going to be RVing full time. Right?! . Back in August we set out on our first family backpacking trip in the Mt. Hood National forest. After ALOT of prep work and research and gear purchasing, we finally were ready to get out there! . My mom heart could not be more stoked that my kids are wanting to do this kind of thing as they are getting older, and that all those hikes that we powered through when they were younger and whiny are finally paying off . . Tent camping is still the worst, for anyone that is wondering , but I loved being out in the wilderness and waking up in the mountains with the the sun and the birds, and getting to experience something new. . What about you? Does this sound like torture to you or an awesome way to adventure? .
