Unexpected adventures are sometimes the best. ✹ We didn’t plan to spend an entire week in Ashland, VA, but we are so glad we did. ✹ This beautiful family (@kellyannebecker) and this rv park were definitely a highlight of our time in VA. ✹ After we arrived at the RV dealer and found out the parts we ordered five weeks before still weren’t in. We decided to go to this RV park and set up for the week (long story...but we knew it would be a while). ✹ It ended up being one of the most hospitable parks we have visited so far. ✹ They had a free waffle breakfast on Friday and Saturday, free hotdogs and hamburgers, and a movie on Friday night and an amazing staff that were always so helpful and happy to see us.✹ And we were so incredibly happy to meet this sweet military family and to get to spend time with them and their beautiful children (not all pictured here ). ✹ We are already making plans to visit with them again in the future in one of our final 50 states! ✹ What RV park/vacation spot has surprised you and been one of your favorites? ✹

Y’all this is my heartbeat right here. Backpacking in the mountains with amazing views and my favorite people. . I’m pretty sure this looks far more like what most people thought we meant when we said we were going to be RVing full time. Right?! . Back in August we set out on our first family backpacking trip in the Mt. Hood National forest. After ALOT of prep work and research and gear purchasing, we finally were ready to get out there! . My mom heart could not be more stoked that my kids are wanting to do this kind of thing as they are getting older, and that all those hikes that we powered through when they were younger and whiny are finally paying off . . Tent camping is still the worst, for anyone that is wondering , but I loved being out in the wilderness and waking up in the mountains with the the sun and the birds, and getting to experience something new. . What about you? Does this sound like torture to you or an awesome way to adventure? .
