We Hiked the Manitou Incline

This was 1 million percent my jam. 2768 steps that went straight up a mountain! Yep - I’m a masochist! Luckily, I have 2 little girls following in my footsteps 🤩. . From the moment I first heard about the Manitou Incline, I knew that I wanted to visit Colorado Springs and walk all those stairs. . We only had 3 days and 2 nights scheduled there and I was pretty bummed to find out that due to Covid, you had to make reservations for the Incline and they were totally full. . The state park where we were staying was also booked solid and didn’t have any openings for us to extend. 🤪 . Luckily, at the very last minute the spot next to us (that was supposed to be for a 25 foot rig - ours is 43ft) opened up. We booked it and reserved our spot on Monday for the Incline! Yes, our rig did fit. Though it took up every inch of the site. . The Incline was awesome and hard. With 2,011 feet of elevation gain in .88 miles, that thing was no joke. And the base sits at 6,600 feet, so breathing was a struggle from the beginning. . We took lots of breaks and drank lots of water and made lots of bribes with our youngest ( ice cream and Gatorade when we were done) but we all made it to the top! . Hannah and I also wanted the challenge of walking back down the stairs while the other 3 of us took the less intense trail back to the bottom. . We were super glad that this worked out and that it was such a great training opportunity for our Rim to Rim hike in the Grand Canyon in September. . Does this sounds like fun to you? Or would you need all the bribes to make it to the top too? _____________________________

Y’all this is my heartbeat right here. Backpacking in the mountains with amazing views and my favorite people. . I’m pretty sure this looks far more like what most people thought we meant when we said we were going to be RVing full time. Right?! . Back in August we set out on our first family backpacking trip in the Mt. Hood National forest. After ALOT of prep work and research and gear purchasing, we finally were ready to get out there! . My mom heart could not be more stoked that my kids are wanting to do this kind of thing as they are getting older, and that all those hikes that we powered through when they were younger and whiny are finally paying off . . Tent camping is still the worst, for anyone that is wondering , but I loved being out in the wilderness and waking up in the mountains with the the sun and the birds, and getting to experience something new. . What about you? Does this sound like torture to you or an awesome way to adventure? .
