Not every adventure goes as planned.

Not every adventure goes as planned. But learning to be flexible and roll with the punches can make anything into an adventure. . We set out on a kayak trip with the kids for the afternoon. We had done tons of prep and planning. Made dinner in advance, blew up the kayaks, and scouted out our route. . Just as we get out on the river, not even 5 minutes in, a huge storm blew in out of nowhere and we had to get out of the water. 🤨 . As we turned back, the wind picked up and the water became hard to paddle through. One kid started crying and wouldn’t paddle 🤪. The other kid couldn’t paddle without the others help. So we just had to abort and get out at the nearest take out. . We finally got the boats back on the truck and drove back to the RV, only to realize we left our cooler bag with our dinner on the bank of the river. We drove all the way back to get it and it was gone. 🤨 . So we decided to just call in a pizza, find the nearest pretty place to eat and watch the sunset. The kids ended up having a blast playing on the jetty rocks and the sand and we saw a gorgeous rainbow and an amazing sunset!

Y’all this is my heartbeat right here. Backpacking in the mountains with amazing views and my favorite people. . I’m pretty sure this looks far more like what most people thought we meant when we said we were going to be RVing full time. Right?! . Back in August we set out on our first family backpacking trip in the Mt. Hood National forest. After ALOT of prep work and research and gear purchasing, we finally were ready to get out there! . My mom heart could not be more stoked that my kids are wanting to do this kind of thing as they are getting older, and that all those hikes that we powered through when they were younger and whiny are finally paying off . . Tent camping is still the worst, for anyone that is wondering , but I loved being out in the wilderness and waking up in the mountains with the the sun and the birds, and getting to experience something new. . What about you? Does this sound like torture to you or an awesome way to adventure? .
