Ah, the sweet freedom of boondocking!
Ah, the sweet freedom of boondocking!
.
We haven’t boondocked (camping on public land for free without hookups) much since we got our new rig a little over a year ago. So we thought we were definitely overdo for some of that sweet boondocking freedom!
.
Joshua Tree South Dispersed was the perfect place to regain our boondocking skills.
.
Only a few miles up the road,
inside the national park, there is a dump station with potable water ($5 cash fee). So in the event that we needed more fresh water or our tanks got full faster than we planned, we wouldn’t have far to go to dump.
.
When you are out boondocking for the first time or the first time in a while, you have to learn how well your rig (and your family ) will do with conserving water and your tanks.
.
There is an element of uncertainty when your heading into a new spot too. So we usually like to have a backup plan in case the spot doesn’t feel right or our rig won’t do well on the terrain.
.
Palm Springs Thousand Trails is 30 minutes up the road from this spot so we made a reservation there too as a back up plan.
.
Luckily, this spot rocked and we were having such a good time we ended up staying way longer than we planned.
.
Have you ever boondocked? How long can your family last without hookups?
