Frequently Asked Questions

We started out on August 27th, 2018. Since then we've been living full time on the road and only been out of the RV in total a few weeks.

We own a marketing company. This work has always been remote. All our clients are, and have always been out of state. This was one of the reasons we started being more flexible with our time from the beginning.

We sold it. It was older and there were some reasons it would have been a real pain to be a long-distance landlord, so we sold the house and put the money in the bank.

The amount of jobs for full-timers is about as numerous as rigs on the road, but some of the usual suspects are:

  • Remote work jobs, like marketing, design, programming.
  • RV Technicians are in pretty high demand. there are courses that you can take in-person and learn how to troubleshoot and repair common RV problems.
  • Work Camping - There are several ways to do this. Most of the time, campers get seasonal jobs and live on premises during the work engagement.
  • Short term jobs like the Sugar Beet Harvest are other ways people make money out here.
  • Influencers - Some people are lucky enough to build social followings and make money doing that. Don't be fooled though, that life is not without a crap ton of work. Influencers often have to be "at work" in times when the rest of us are vacationing, so be careful what you wish for.

They're homeschooled. They always have been, which is another reason we entertained the idea of full-time travel from the beginning. Most of their school is done online. We are currently using Power Homeschool, which uses the Accellus school system.

Originally, we kept our domicile in Virginia, where we launched from. After a couple of years we decided to move everything to South Dakota because they are much friendlier to RVers. We no longer have to have our vehicles inspected, and there is no income tax or local tax we have to pay for our vehicles. We used America's Mailbox to do this.

We have two forwarding services. One from South Dakota, where we're domiciled, and another in North Carolina, simply for convenience called TravelingMailbox.com, that scans our mail and sends us PDF copies of everything we receive. This makes book keeping and tax upkeep much easier than before. We no longer receive junk mail.
